Deccan Chargers were regarded the underdogs as they were at the last place in IPL T20 season 1 points tally. On the other hand, Mumbai Indians is regarded as one of the best teams of IPL 2 with a great bowling and batting combination. Adam Gilchrist won the toss and decided to bat. Hershelle Gibbs (58 off 44 balls), Dwayne Smith (35 off 22 balls) and Adam Gilchrist (35 off 20 balls) guided Deccan Chargers to a competitive total of 168/9 in their 20 overs. But yet again the strategy break proved to be damaging and Sachin got out soon after after which the required run rate kept on increasing. The middle order could not hold for long and instead of great effort by some of the batsmen, Mumbai Indians could only score 156/7 in their 20 overs. Pragyan Ojha from the Deccan Chargers was adjudged the Man of the Match for his spell of 4 wickets for 21 runs.
