Gilly and Marsh decimated Royal Challengers bowlers as Kings XI Punjab demolished Royal Challengers Bangalore by 111 runs. Adam Gilchrist won the toss and decided to bat. After a steady start for the first 5 overs, skipper Adam Gilchrist and fellow Australian Shaun Marsh demolished RCB bowling throughout the rest of the innings as they also broke the record for the highest partnership for any wicket in any T20 match. Adam Gilchrist got his second IPL ton as he scored 106 runs off 55 balls while Shaun Marsh scored 79 runs off 49 balls to guide KXIP to the highest score of IPL 4 at 232/2 in 20 overs. Charl Langeveldt took 2 wickets for RCB. In reply, RCB batsmen were bundled out for 121 in 17 overs as KXIP defeated RCB by the second highest run margin of defeat by any team in IPL history . Sahara Pune Warriors finally halted their losing streak of 7 consecutive matches as they defeated Kings XI Punjab who instead continued with their 5th consecutive loss. King XI Punjab captain Adam Gilchrist won the toss and decided to bat first. KXIP kept on losing wickets and failed to build partnerships and ended up with only 119/8 in 20 overs. Wayne Parnell, Rahul Sharma, Mitchell Marsh and Bhuvneshwar Kumar took 2 wickets each for the Pune Warriors. In reply, Sahara Pune Warriors scored 120/5 in 17.1 overs including a blistering 35 runs off 15 balls. Shalabh Srivastava took 2 wickets for KXIP. Rahul Sharma was awarded the Man of the Match for his yet another amazing spell of 2 wickets for 17 runs in 4 overs where he scalped both the openers Gilchrist and Valthaty.
Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Kings XI Punjab by 8 wickets with 16 balls remaining at the Eden Gardens as former KKR captain Sourav Ganguly was present amongst the spectators for the first time in IPL 4. KKR captain Gautam Gambhir won the toss and put Kings XI Punjab to bat. Kings XI Punjab kept on losing wickets and Dinesh Karthik scored a run-a-ball 42 runs to guide KXIP to 119/6 in 20 overs. Iqbal Abdulla scalped two wickets for KKR while Yusuf Pathan took one wicket. In reply, Gauti Gambhir (45 runs n.o. off 44 balls), Manoj Tiwary (34 runs n.o. off 41 balls) and Eoin Morgan (28 runs off 15 balls) contributed as KKR cruised to 120/2 in 17.2 overs. Iqbal Abdulla was awarded the Man of the Match for his 2 wickets for 19 runs in his 4 overs.
Delhi Daredevils defeated Kings XI Punjab by 29 runs in a massive run-fest as 433 total runs were scored in the 40 over spam of the match. Kings XI Punjab captain Adam Gilchrist won the toss and put Delhi to bat. But Delhi Daredevils went to a flyer as both openers Virender Sehwag and David Warner scored 77 runs each off 35 balls and 48 balls respectively as they gave a record opening stand of 146 runs. Venugopal Rao (28 runs off 15 balls) and Naman Ojha (19 runs off 8 balls) also contributed as they scored a massive 231/4 in 20 overs. Kings XI Punjab also gave a blazing reply as Shaun Marsh (95 runs off 46 balls) and Adam Gilchrist (42 runs off 33 balls) scoring rapidly though the rest of the batsmen could not do that well as they ended up with 202/6 in 20 overs. Ajit Agarkar took 2 wickets for the Daredevils while the much hyped IPL debutant Varun Aaron took a wicket too as he also hit 147.6 K on one occasion and was 140K + most of the time.
