Gilly and Marsh decimated Royal Challengers bowlers as Kings XI Punjab demolished Royal Challengers Bangalore by 111 runs. Adam Gilchrist won the toss and decided to bat. After a steady start for the first 5 overs, skipper Adam Gilchrist and fellow Australian Shaun Marsh demolished RCB bowling throughout the rest of the innings as they also broke the record for the highest partnership for any wicket in any T20 match. Adam Gilchrist got his second IPL ton as he scored 106 runs off 55 balls while Shaun Marsh scored 79 runs off 49 balls to guide KXIP to the highest score of IPL 4 at 232/2 in 20 overs. Charl Langeveldt took 2 wickets for RCB. In reply, RCB batsmen were bundled out for 121 in 17 overs as KXIP defeated RCB by the second highest run margin of defeat by any team in IPL history . Sahara Pune Warriors finally halted their losing streak of 7 consecutive matches as they defeated Kings XI Punjab who instead continued with their 5th consecutive loss. King XI Punjab captain Adam Gilchrist won the toss and decided to bat first. KXIP kept on losing wickets and failed to build partnerships and ended up with only 119/8 in 20 overs. Wayne Parnell, Rahul Sharma, Mitchell Marsh and Bhuvneshwar Kumar took 2 wickets each for the Pune Warriors. In reply, Sahara Pune Warriors scored 120/5 in 17.1 overs including a blistering 35 runs off 15 balls. Shalabh Srivastava took 2 wickets for KXIP. Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Kings XI Punjab by 8 wickets with 16 balls remaining at the Eden Gardens as former KKR captain Sourav Ganguly was present amongst the spectators for the first time in IPL 4. KKR captain Gautam Gambhir won the toss and put Kings XI Punjab to bat. Kings XI Punjab kept on losing wickets and Dinesh Karthik scored a run-a-ball 42 runs to guide KXIP to 119/6 in 20 overs. Iqbal Abdulla scalped two wickets for KKR while Yusuf Pathan took one wicket. Delhi Daredevils defeated Kings XI Punjab by 29 runs in a massive run-fest as 433 total runs were scored in the 40 over spam of the match. Kings XI Punjab captain Adam Gilchrist won the toss and put Delhi to bat. But Delhi Daredevils went to a flyer as both openers Virender Sehwag and David Warner scored 77 runs each off 35 balls and 48 balls respectively as they gave a record opening stand of 146 runs. Venugopal Rao (28 runs off 15 balls) and Naman Ojha (19 runs off 8 balls) also contributed as they scored a massive 231/4 in 20 overs. Kings XI Punjab also gave a blazing reply as Shaun Marsh (95 runs off 46 balls) and Adam Gilchrist (42 runs off 33 balls) scoring rapidly though the rest of the batsmen could not do that well as they ended up with 202/6 in 20 overs. Kings XI Punjab defeated Rajasthan Royals by 48 runs in their third consecutive win after the two initial losses. Rajasthan Royals skipper Shane Warne won the toss and put KXIP to bat. But Kings XI Punjab blazed away and also scored the fastest fifth in IPL history mainly due to blazing innings by Paul Valthaty (46 runs off 31 balls) and Adam Gilchrist (26 runs off 16 balls). After they got out Shaun Marsh (71 runs off 42 balls) continued though they lost momentum in the final 5 overs of the KXIP innings after he got out as they reached 195/7 in 20 overs. Shaun Tait took two wickets for the Rajasthan Royals while Shane Watson chipped in with 2 wickets. In reply, Rajasthan Royals kept on losing wickets at regular intervals and all their big names got out cheaply as they ended with only 147/7 in 20 overs. Shaun Marsh was awarded the Man of the Match for his elegant yet explosive innings.

Paul Valthaty rose to national prominence from streets of oblivion when he hit a blazing century at Mohali a couple of days ago. But nobody imagined that he would not only shine in the next match itself but also proved himself as an all rounder too as he took 4 wickets for 29 runs and scored 75 runs off 45 balls as Kings XI Punjab demolished Deccan Chargers by 8 wickets with more than 2 overs remaining. Kings XI Punjab captain Adam Gilchrist won the toss at his former home ground Hyderabad and put Deccan Chargers to bat. Shikhar Dhawan (45 runs off 36 balls), Kumar Sangakkara (35 runs off 28 balls) and Daniel Christian (30 runs off 14 balls) contributed as Deccan Chargers scored 165/8 in 20 overs. Ryan McLaren also scalped 2 wickets with Valthaty taking 4. Kings XI Punjab in reply went off to a flyer and the first wicket partnership between Adam Gilchrist (61 runs off 46 balls) and Paul Valthaty (75 runs off 47 balls) of 136 runs in just 14 overs already took the game away from Deccan Chargers. Kings XI Punjab pulled up an incredible win against defending champions Chennai Super Kings due to an awesome innings by Mumbai lad Paul Valthaty who scored 120 runs for KXIP in merely 63 balls. Punjab skipper Adam Gilchrist won the toss and put CSK to bat. Chennai lost 2 wickets without any runs on the board but Murali Vijay (74 runs off 43 balls), Subramanium Badrinath (66 runs off 56 balls) and Mahendra Singh Dhoni (43 runs off 20 balls) recovered the team and helped CSK reach a huge total of 188/4 in 20 overs. In reply, Paul Valthaty almost won the game single-handed for Kings XI Punjab as they scored 193/4 with 5 ball to spare. He also became only the fourth Indian to score a century in the Indian Premier League and unanimously became the Man of the Match for the brilliant innings.

Yuvraj Singh captain Sahara Pune Warriors to a 7 wicket win over his former IPL team Kings XI Punjab at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. King XI Punjab captain Adam Gilchrist won the toss and decided to bat first. But they were decimated by the Pune bowling and Ryan McLaren (51 runs off 43 balls) was their successful batsman as they scored 112/8 in 20 overs. Shrikant Wagh and Alfonso Thomas took 3 wickets and 2 wickets respectively for the Pune Warriors. Pune Warriors in return lost Graeme Smith off the first ball but then Jesse Ryder (31 off 17 balls), Mithun Manhas (35 off 32 balls), Robin Uthappa (22 off 14 balls) and Yuvraj Singh (21 off 15 balls) guided the debutant franchisee to victory in just 13.1 overs. Shrikant Wagh was adjudged the Man of the Match for his brilliant bowling performance.

IPL announces final squads for IPL 2011 Season 4

All the 10 teams participating in IPL 2011 Season 4 including the two new entrants Sahara Pune Warriors and Kochi Tuskers Kerala have announced their final list of players in their respective teams. Out of the teams, Sahara Pune Warriors is the only team to have registered their full quota of 30 players in the squad. Delhi Daredevils were also close behind with 29 players while Kochi Tuskers Kerala, Deccan Chargers and Rajasthan Royals named 27 players each in their final squads. Royal Challengers Bangalore listed 25 players and Kings XI Punjab 23 players. Kolkata Knight Riders named the least number of players amongst all the franchisees as they went ahead with only 20 players including 7 foreign players.

In terms of spending, Mumbai Indians were left with only $1739 from their $9 million purse after all their player purchases. Rajasthan Royals were the only franchisee to exhaust their full purse while Deccan Chargers had the maximum amount left of $1.49 million after their player purchases followed by KXIP who had $1.46 million (approx) left.
