Chennai Super Kings defeated Deccan Chargers by 19 runs. CSK captain Dhoni won the toss and decided to bat. Suresh Raina (59 runs off 35 balls) and Michael Hussey (46 runs off 41 balls) played useful knocks as CSK reached 165/5 in 20 overs. Pragyan Ojha shined with the ball for Deccan Chargers as he took 3 wickets for 26 runs in his 4 overs. Deccan Chargers started well as their opener Sunny Sohal scored 56 runs off 30 balls but none of the other batsmen scored big and they kept on losing wickets as they ended up with only 146/8 in 20 overs. Albie Morkel took 3 wickets for CSK while Doug Bollinger and Shadab Jakati contributed with a couple of wickets each. Albie Morkel was awarded the Man of the Match for his 3 wickets for 38 runs and his blazing knock of 19 runs off 6 balls.

Chennai Super Kings defeated Sahara Pune Warriors at DY Patil, Navi Mumbai as they prevail upon Pune in the second consecutive game. Pune captain Yuvraj won the toss and decided to bat. Pune Warriors once again kept on losing wickets and the captain Yuvraj Singh has to step up himself as he scored 62 runs off 43 balls to guide Pune to 141/6 in 20 overs with some support from Robin Uthappa (31 runs off 22 balls). Doug Bollinger took 3 wickets for CSK. In reply, Chennai Super Kings almost cruised to the total as Subramanium Badrinath (63 runs off 44 balls), Suresh Raina (34 runs off 25 balls) and Murali Vijay (31 runs off 31 balls) helped CSK reach 145/2 in 19.3 overs. Doug Bollinger was awarded the Man of the Match of his 3 wickets for 21 runs.

Chennai Super Kings thrashed Pune Warriors at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai on April 25, 2011. Sahara Pune Warriors captain Yuvraj Singh won the toss and put Chennai Super Kings to bat. Michael Hussey scored a brilliant 61 runs off 48 balls as CSK posted a modest total of 142/6 in their 20 overs. Jerome Taylor took 3 wickets for Pune Warriors while Alfonso Thomas scalped 2 wickets. In reply, Sahara Pune Warriors never got a stand as they kept losing wickets continuously and could only score 117/9 in 20 overs. Albie Morkel took 3 wickets while Doug Bollinger and R Aswhin took 2 wickets each for CSK. Michael Hussey was awarded the Man of the Match for his useful knock.

Last year’s IPL finalist Mumbai Indians defeated the IPL champions Chennai Super Kings by 8 run by virtue of an all round performance by the team. Chennai captain Dhoni won the toss and put Mumbai Indians to bat. After some initial hiccups, Rohit Sharma scored a brilliant 87 runs off 48 balls and was well supported by Andrew Symonds (31 runs off 26 balls) and Ambati Rayudu (27 runs off 29 balls) as they scored 164/4 in 20 overs. Doug Bollinger took two wickets for CSK. Chennai Super Kings replied very well with Subramanium Badrinath (71 runs off 48 balls) and Michael Hussey (41 runs off 33 balls) playing good knocks but hardly anybody else could even cross double digits as they ended up with 156/9 in their 20 overs. Harbhajan Singh took 5 wickets for 18 runs while Lasith Malinga contributed with 2 wickets. Harbhajan was awarded the Man of the Match for his bowling performance.
