Chennai Super Kings defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by 21 runs at Chepauk today. Chennai captain Dhoni won the toss and decided to bat. Michael Hussey (83 runs off 56 balls) who joined the CSK squad today played a gem of an innings and he was supported by Murali Vijay (31 off 21), Suresh Raina (29 off 16) and Mahendra Singh Dhoni (22 off 16) as they reached 183/5 in 20 overs. Bangalore lost early wickets in reply and a valiant effort by AB De Villiers (65 runs off 44 balls) could not secure them a win as they finished 21 runs short at 164/7 in their 20 overs. Michael Hussey was awarded the Man of the Match for his excellent knock.

All the 10 teams participating in IPL 2011 Season 4 including the two new entrants Sahara Pune Warriors and Kochi Tuskers Kerala have announced their final list of players in their respective teams. Out of the teams, Sahara Pune Warriors is the only team to have registered their full quota of 30 players in the squad. Delhi Daredevils were also close behind with 29 players while Kochi Tuskers Kerala, Deccan Chargers and Rajasthan Royals named 27 players each in their final squads. Royal Challengers Bangalore listed 25 players and Kings XI Punjab 23 players. Kolkata Knight Riders named the least number of players amongst all the franchisees as they went ahead with only 20 players including 7 foreign players.

In terms of spending, Mumbai Indians were left with only $1739 from their $9 million purse after all their player purchases. Rajasthan Royals were the only franchisee to exhaust their full purse while Deccan Chargers had the maximum amount left of $1.49 million after their player purchases followed by KXIP who had $1.46 million (approx) left.

Chennai Super Kings thrashed the Deccan Chargers in the 29th match of IPL T20 season 2. Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and decided to bat. Most of the Chennai batsmen cleared the boundary ropes easily and Chennai Super Kings reached 178/3 in 20 overs with prominent contributions from Matthew Hayden (43 off 26 balls), Mahendra Singh Dhoni (58 off 37 balls), Suresh Raina (32 off 19 balls) and Murali Vijay (31 off 33 balls). Deccan Chargers kept losing on wickets when they came to bat and even a cameo by Dwayne Smith (49 off 23 balls) could not save them from defeat. The Deccan Chargers were bundled out for only 100 runs in 14.4 overs. Shadab Jakati was the pick of the bowlers with 4 wickets for 22 runs while Muttiah Muralidaran and Albie Morkel bagged 2 wickets each. Dhoni was awarded the Man of the Match for his brilliant knock.

Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Daredevils are both regarded as strong contenders of IPL T20 season 2 cup. Delhi Daredevils had already defeated Chennai Super Kings once in IPL season 2 in a very close match and so this match was even more interesting. Delhi Daredevils skipper for this match Gautam Gambhir won the toss and put Chennai Super Kings into bat. Chennai Super Kings had a good start but lost frequent wickets and ended up being all out in 20 overs for a score of 163. Subramaniam Badrinath (45 off 34 balls), Suresh Raina (32 off 21 balls) and Matthew Hayden (30 off 19 balls) made the most significant contributions with the bat for Chennai Super Kings. Dirk Nannes, Ashish Nehra and Rajat Bhatia were brilliant with the ball for the Delhi Daredevils with bowling figures of 3/27, 3/27 and 2/17 respectively. Delhi Daredevils could not keep up with the reqd. RR as they kept on losing frequent wickets and even the two half centuries by IPL debutant David Warner (51 off 40 balls) and Dinesh Karthik (52 off 31 balls) could not save the Delhi Daredevils from defeat.
