Delhi Daredevils beat Deccan Chargers by 12 runs 0

Posted on May 14, 2009 by admin

Delhi Daredevils and Deccan Chargers were both sitting near the top of the points tally before the 43rd Match of IPL T20 season 2 and the match was seen by many as a fight for an almost guaranteed semi-final berth. Adam Gilchrist won the toss and put Delhi Daredevils to bat. Delhi Daredevils did not look very comfortable against the Deccan Chargers bowlers but Dinesh Karthik (44 off 23 balls), AB de Villiers (44 off 36 balls) and Tillakaratne Dilshan (37 off 18 balls) played blazing knocks to guide Delhi Daredevils to 172/7 in 20 overs. Deccan Chargers started the run chase in style as Adam Gilchrist blazed to 64 runs in 33 balls. Even after he got out Andrew Symonds (41 off 22 balls) attacked the bowling and Deccan Chargers were looking at a comfortable position with just 25 runs needed off 20 balls with 7 wickets in hand. But then wickets fell in quick succession and all of a sudden Deccan Chargers were bowled out for 161 runs in 19.4 overs. Rajat Bhatia and Pradeep Sangwan were the star bowlers for the Delhi Daredevils with bowling figures of 4/15 and 3/18 respectively. Rajat Bhatia was awarded the Man of the Match for taking the crucial 4 wickets which helped Delhi Daredevils turn the match around in their favour.
