Deccan Chargers eliminated all chances of Kings XI Punjab making it to the playoffs of IPL 4 as they thrashed them by 82 runs. KXIP captain Adam Gilchrist won the toss and put DC to bat. Openers Shikhar Dhawan (95 not out off 57 balls) and Ravi Teja (60 runs off 41 balls) guided Deccan Chargers to a massive total of 198/2 in 320 overs. In reply, KXIP were bundled out for 116 runs in 19 overs though KXIP skipper Adam Gilchrist was the lone ranger with 51 runs off 37 balls. Amit Mishra took 4 wickets for DC. Shikhar Dhawan was awarded the Man of the Match for his brilliant knock.

With elimination of KXIP, this match also finalized the four teams for the playoffs of IPL 4 which are Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians. The four teams also play their final matches before the playoffs and that too against each other which would decide the standing of the four teams for the playoffs. The teams which remain at the top 2 of the points table after tomorrow’s matches would get a second chance to make it to the IPL finals in case they lose their first match.

Gilly and Marsh decimated Royal Challengers bowlers as Kings XI Punjab demolished Royal Challengers Bangalore by 111 runs. Adam Gilchrist won the toss and decided to bat. After a steady start for the first 5 overs, skipper Adam Gilchrist and fellow Australian Shaun Marsh demolished RCB bowling throughout the rest of the innings as they also broke the record for the highest partnership for any wicket in any T20 match. Adam Gilchrist got his second IPL ton as he scored 106 runs off 55 balls while Shaun Marsh scored 79 runs off 49 balls to guide KXIP to the highest score of IPL 4 at 232/2 in 20 overs. Charl Langeveldt took 2 wickets for RCB. In reply, RCB batsmen were bundled out for 121 in 17 overs as KXIP defeated RCB by the second highest run margin of defeat by any team in IPL history . Piyush Chawla took 4 wickets, Ryan Harris took 3 wickets and Shalabh Srivastava took 2 wickets for KXIP. Adam Gilchrist was awarded the Man of the Match for his amazing knock.

Kings XI Punjab upset Mumbai Indians by massive 76 runs 0

Kings XI Punjab pulled up a huge upset over Mumbai Indians as they thrashed MI by 76 runs at Mohali. Mumbai Indians captain Sachin Tendulkar won the toss and put KXIP to bat. Shaun Marsh (43 runs off 34 balls), Dinesh Karthik (31 runs off 24 balls) and Adam Gilchrist (28 runs off 28 balls) contributed as KXIP ended up with 163/8 in 20 overs. However, only the top 4 scored and rest all faltered as the second half of their innings was terrible. Munaf Patel took 5 wickets for MI while Lasith Malinga took 2 wickets. In reply, Mumbai Indians batsmen crumbled as they were bowled out in merely 12.5 overs for 87 runs. Bhargav Bhatt took 4 wickets and Praveen Kumar took 2 wickets for KXIP. Bhargav Bhatt was awarded the Man of the Match for his 4 wickets for 22 runs in 2.5 overs.

Delhi Daredevils prevail over Kings XI Punjab in Kotla run-fest 0

Delhi Daredevils defeated Kings XI Punjab by 29 runs in a massive run-fest as 433 total runs were scored in the 40 over spam of the match. Kings XI Punjab captain Adam Gilchrist won the toss and put Delhi to bat. But Delhi Daredevils went to a flyer as both openers Virender Sehwag and David Warner scored 77 runs each off 35 balls and 48 balls respectively as they gave a record opening stand of 146 runs. Venugopal Rao (28 runs off 15 balls) and Naman Ojha (19 runs off 8 balls) also contributed as they scored a massive 231/4 in 20 overs. Kings XI Punjab also gave a blazing reply as Shaun Marsh (95 runs off 46 balls) and Adam Gilchrist (42 runs off 33 balls) scoring rapidly though the rest of the batsmen could not do that well as they ended up with 202/6 in 20 overs. Ajit Agarkar took 2 wickets for the Daredevils while the much hyped IPL debutant Varun Aaron took a wicket too as he also hit 147.6 K on one occasion and was 140K + most of the time. David Warner was awarded the Man of the Match.
