Mumbai thrash Deccan by 37 runs to secure easy win 0

Mumbai Indians thrashed Deccan Chargers by 37 runs as they secured an easy win and went quite ahead of other IPL teams in the points table. After the win, Mumbai Indians are on 10 points and 4 points ahead of second placed KKR. Deccan captain Sangakkara won the toss and put Mumbai Indians to bat. Though MI lost some early wickets but Rohit Sharma (56 runs off 34 balls) and Andrew Symonds (44 runs off 33 balls) reconstructed the innings as they reached 172/4 in 20 overs. Amit Mishra took two wickets for the Chargers. None of the Deccan Chargers batsmen could survive for long as they kept on losing wickets and ended up with only 135/8 in 20 overs. Lasith Malinga bowled an amazing spell as he took 3 wickets for only 9 runs in his 4 overs for MI and was also awarded the Man of the Match for the same.

Deccan Chargers defeated Delhi Daredevils by 16 runs at Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi. Deccan captain Kumar Sangakkara won the toss and decided to bat. Sunny Sohal (62 runs off 41 balls) played a very good knock supported by Kumar Sangakkara (49 runs off 35 balls) and Cameron White (31 runs off 25 balls) as the Chargers scored 168/4 in 20 overs. Delhi Daredevils in reply kept losing wickets continuously and even a fighting innings by David Warner (51 runs off 48 balls) did not help much as they ended up with only 152/7 in their 20 overs. Daniel Christian and Harmeet Singh took two wickets each for the Deccan Chargers. Sunny Sohal was awarded the Player of the Match.

Paul Valthaty rose to national prominence from streets of oblivion when he hit a blazing century at Mohali a couple of days ago. But nobody imagined that he would not only shine in the next match itself but also proved himself as an all rounder too as he took 4 wickets for 29 runs and scored 75 runs off 45 balls as Kings XI Punjab demolished Deccan Chargers by 8 wickets with more than 2 overs remaining. Kings XI Punjab captain Adam Gilchrist won the toss at his former home ground Hyderabad and put Deccan Chargers to bat. Shikhar Dhawan (45 runs off 36 balls), Kumar Sangakkara (35 runs off 28 balls) and Daniel Christian (30 runs off 14 balls) contributed as Deccan Chargers scored 165/8 in 20 overs. Ryan McLaren also scalped 2 wickets with Valthaty taking 4. Kings XI Punjab in reply went off to a flyer and the first wicket partnership between Adam Gilchrist (61 runs off 46 balls) and Paul Valthaty (75 runs off 47 balls) of 136 runs in just 14 overs already took the game away from Deccan Chargers. Abhishek Nayar hit a few blows as Kings XI Punjab reached 166/2 in 17.4 overs. Amit Mishra took both the wickets for Chargers but it was too late for any competition. Paul Valthaty was awarded the Man of the Match for his brilliant knock.

Deccan Chargers break home ground jinx with 33 runs win over RCB 0

The home ground of Deccan Chargers since IPL season 1 has been the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium at Hyderabad. They have even been the IPL champions during its second edition at South Africa. However, they had never won a single match in their Hyderabad home ground in all these years till this match. But they finally rose to the occasion and broke the jinx with their first win of IPL season 4 with a 33 run win against Royal Challengers Bangalore. RCB captain Vettori won the toss and put DC to bat. Deccan Chargers went off to a flyer and reached 175/5 in their 20 overs with rapid knocks by Bharat Chipli (61 runs off 35 balls), Sunny Sohal (38 runs off 37 balls) and their captain Kumar Sangakkara (36 runs off 25 balls). Zaheer Khan was the lone ranger in the Bangalore bowling as he took 3 wickets for 32 runs. In reply, Bangalore could never give a befitting reply and kept on losing wickets regularly against the fiery spells of the three DC seamers Dale Steyn (3 wickets for 24 runs), Ishant Sharma (1 wicket for 21 runs) and Manpreet Gony (3 wickets for 31 runs). Virat Kohli was the lone ranger in the Bangalore batting and scored 71 runs off 51 balls but they could only 142/9 in their 20 overs. Steyn was awarded the Man of the Match for his bowling.
