Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Sahara Pune Warriors by 7 wickets at Navi Mumbai as they finalized their spot in the playoffs of IPL 4. KKR captain Gautam Gambhir won the toss and put Pune Warriors to bat. None of the Sahara Pune Warriors batsmen scored big as KKR bowlers bowled well and restricted PW to only 118/7 in 20 overs. Yusuf Pathan, Shakib Al Hassan and Lakshmipathy Balaji took 2 wickets each for KKR. In reply, Gautam Gambhir (54 runs n.o. off 46 balls) lead from the front and was supported by Yusuf Pathan (29 runs off 25 balls) and Manoj Tiwary (24 runs off 24 balls) as they cruised to 119/3 in 16.4 overs. Yusuf Pathan was awarded the Man of his Match for his all round performance including his 2 wickets for 23 runs in 4 overs, knock of 29 runs off 25 balls and catch of Saurav Ganguly in the field.

Gilly and Marsh decimated Royal Challengers bowlers as Kings XI Punjab demolished Royal Challengers Bangalore by 111 runs. Adam Gilchrist won the toss and decided to bat. After a steady start for the first 5 overs, skipper Adam Gilchrist and fellow Australian Shaun Marsh demolished RCB bowling throughout the rest of the innings as they also broke the record for the highest partnership for any wicket in any T20 match. Adam Gilchrist got his second IPL ton as he scored 106 runs off 55 balls while Shaun Marsh scored 79 runs off 49 balls to guide KXIP to the highest score of IPL 4 at 232/2 in 20 overs. Charl Langeveldt took 2 wickets for RCB. In reply, RCB batsmen were bundled out for 121 in 17 overs as KXIP defeated RCB by the second highest run margin of defeat by any team in IPL history . Deccan Chargers beat Sahara Pune Warriors by 6 wickets at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai. DC captain Kumar Sangakkara won the toss and put PW to bat. Pune Warriors kept on losing wickets regularly and ended up at 136/9 in 20 overs. Amit Mishra, Pragyan Ojha and Daniel Christian took 2 wickets each for the Deccan Chargers. In reply, almost Deccan Chargers batsmen contributed in 20s and 30s as DC reached 138/4 in 19.2 overs. Rahul Sharma took 2 wickets for Sahara Pune Warriors. Amit Mishra was awarded the Man of the Match for his 2 wickets for 26 runs in 4 overs.

Kochi Tuskers Kerala demolished Rajasthan Royals at Indore as they restricted RR to only 97 runs and then achieved the target in merely 7.2 overs. KTK captain Mahela Jayawardena won the toss and put RR to bat. All the RR wickets kept falling as the Royals were bowled out for 97 runs in 18.3 overs. Brad Hodge took 4 wickets for KTK while Sreesanth and Prasanth Parameswaran contributed with a couple of wickets each. In reply, KTK blasted off and cruised to 98/2 in only 7.2 overs with Brad Hodge emerging as their top scorer too with 33 runs.
