Delhi Daredevils defeated Kochi Tuskers Kerala by 38 runs at Kochi on April 30, 2011. Delhi captain Virender Sehwag won the toss and decided to bat. Sehwag himself played a captain’s knock as he scored 80 runs off 47 balls to guide his team to 157/7 in 20 overs. Sreesanth took two wickets for the Kochi team. In reply, Kochi kept on losing wickets continuously as they were bundled out for 119 runs in 18.5 overs. Morne Morkel and Roelef van der Merwe took 3 wickets each while Irfan Pathan chipped in with 2 wickets. Virender Sehwag was awarded the Player of the Match for his brilliant innings.

Mumbai Indians thrashed Deccan Chargers by 37 runs as they secured an easy win and went quite ahead of other IPL teams in the points table. After the win, Mumbai Indians are on 10 points and 4 points ahead of second placed KKR. Deccan captain Sangakkara won the toss and put Mumbai Indians to bat. Though MI lost some early wickets but Rohit Sharma (56 runs off 34 balls) and Andrew Symonds (44 runs off 33 balls) reconstructed the innings as they reached 172/4 in 20 overs. Amit Mishra took two wickets for the Chargers. None of the Deccan Chargers batsmen could survive for long as they kept on losing wickets and ended up with only 135/8 in 20 overs. Lasith Malinga bowled an amazing spell as he took 3 wickets for only 9 runs in his 4 overs for MI and was also awarded the Man of the Match for the same.

Chris Gayle joined Royal Challengers Bangalore as the replacement for Dirk Nannes after he was dropped from the WI squad. But he showed why he is one of the greatest hitters of world cricket as he scored a quickfire century including 7 sixes as KKR had to face yet another brutal defeat at Eden Gardens. RCB captain Daniel Vettori won the toss and put KKR to bat. Kolkata Knight Riders reached a very good total as they scored 171/5 in their 20 overs with important contributions from Gautam Gambhir (48 runs off 38 balls), Yusuf Pathan (46 runs off 24 balls) and Jacques Kallis (40 runs off 42 balls). In reply, Chris Gayle almost single handedly won the game for RCB in his IPL 4 debut as he scored 102 runs in just 55 balls. Bangalore reached 175/1 in just 18.1 overs as Gayle made the target look very easy with the support of Tilakaratne Dilshan (38 runs off 31 balls) and Virat Kohli (30 runs off 23 balls). Chris Gayle was awarded the Man of the Match for his blazing century.

Kings XI Punjab defeated Rajasthan Royals by 48 runs in their third consecutive win after the two initial losses. Rajasthan Royals skipper Shane Warne won the toss and put KXIP to bat. But Kings XI Punjab blazed away and also scored the fastest fifth in IPL history mainly due to blazing innings by Paul Valthaty (46 runs off 31 balls) and Adam Gilchrist (26 runs off 16 balls). After they got out Shaun Marsh (71 runs off 42 balls) continued though they lost momentum in the final 5 overs of the KXIP innings after he got out as they reached 195/7 in 20 overs. Shaun Tait took two wickets for the Rajasthan Royals while Shane Watson chipped in with 2 wickets. In reply, Rajasthan Royals kept on losing wickets at regular intervals and all their big names got out cheaply as they ended with only 147/7 in 20 overs. Shaun Marsh was awarded the Man of the Match for his elegant yet explosive innings.
