Deccan Chargers eliminated all chances of Kings XI Punjab making it to the playoffs of IPL 4 as they thrashed them by 82 runs. KXIP captain Adam Gilchrist won the toss and put DC to bat. Openers Shikhar Dhawan (95 not out off 57 balls) and Ravi Teja (60 runs off 41 balls) guided Deccan Chargers to a massive total of 198/2 in 320 overs. In reply, KXIP were bundled out for 116 runs in 19 overs though KXIP skipper Adam Gilchrist was the lone ranger with 51 runs off 37 balls. Amit Mishra took 4 wickets for DC. Shikhar Dhawan was awarded the Man of the Match for his brilliant knock.

With elimination of KXIP, this match also finalized the four teams for the playoffs of IPL 4 which are Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians. The four teams also play their final matches before the playoffs and that too against each other which would decide the standing of the four teams for the playoffs. The teams which remain at the top 2 of the points table after tomorrow’s matches would get a second chance to make it to the IPL finals in case they lose their first match.

Gilly and Marsh decimated Royal Challengers bowlers as Kings XI Punjab demolished Royal Challengers Bangalore by 111 runs. Adam Gilchrist won the toss and decided to bat. After a steady start for the first 5 overs, skipper Adam Gilchrist and fellow Australian Shaun Marsh demolished RCB bowling throughout the rest of the innings as they also broke the record for the highest partnership for any wicket in any T20 match. Adam Gilchrist got his second IPL ton as he scored 106 runs off 55 balls while Shaun Marsh scored 79 runs off 49 balls to guide KXIP to the highest score of IPL 4 at 232/2 in 20 overs. Charl Langeveldt took 2 wickets for RCB. In reply, RCB batsmen were bundled out for 121 in 17 overs as KXIP defeated RCB by the second highest run margin of defeat by any team in IPL history . Kings XI Punjab defeated Delhi Daredevils at the picturesque stadium at Dharamsala. Delhi Daredvils captain James Hopes won the toss and put KXIP to bat. Paul Valthaty (62 runs off 50 balls) and Shaun Marsh (46 runs off 28 balls) capitalized on the terrible fielding and catching of Delhi Daredevils today as they got numerous lives and took KXIP to 170/6 in 20 overs. Irfan Pathan took 3 wickets for Delhi Daredevils while Aavishkar Salvi took 2 wickets. In reply, DD started slowly and then kept on losing wickets as they ended up with 141/8 in 20 overs. Piyush Chawla took 3 wickets for KXIP while Shalabh Srivastava took 2 wickets. Piyush Chawla was awarded the Man of the Match for his 3 wickets for 16 runs in 4 overs.

Kings XI Punjab defeated Kochi Tuskers Kerala by 6 wickets in a high scoring encounter. Kings XI Punjab captain Adam Gilchrist won the toss and put KTK to bat. Mahela Jayawardene played a captain’s knock as he scored 76 runs off 52 balls and guided his team to 178/7 in 20 overs. Bipul Sharma took 2 wickets for KXIP. In reply, Dinesh Karthik (69 runs off 33 balls) and Shaun Marsh (42 runs off 30 balls) scored big as King XI Punjab reached 181/4 in 18.5 overs. RP Singh took 4 wickets for KTK though he could not stop the KXIP win. Dinesh Karthik was awarded the Man of the Match for his match winning knock.
