Kings XI Punjab pulled up a huge upset over Mumbai Indians as they thrashed MI by 76 runs at Mohali. Mumbai Indians captain Sachin Tendulkar won the toss and put KXIP to bat. Shaun Marsh (43 runs off 34 balls), Dinesh Karthik (31 runs off 24 balls) and Adam Gilchrist (28 runs off 28 balls) contributed as KXIP ended up with 163/8 in 20 overs. However, only the top 4 scored and rest all faltered as the second half of their innings was terrible. Munaf Patel took 5 wickets for MI while Lasith Malinga took 2 wickets. In reply, Mumbai Indians batsmen crumbled as they were bowled out in merely 12.5 overs for 87 runs. Bhargav Bhatt took 4 wickets and Praveen Kumar took 2 wickets for KXIP. Bhargav Bhatt was awarded the Man of the Match for his 4 wickets for 22 runs in 2.5 overs.

Sahara Pune Warriors finally halted their losing streak of 7 consecutive matches as they defeated Kings XI Punjab who instead continued with their 5th consecutive loss. King XI Punjab captain Adam Gilchrist won the toss and decided to bat first. KXIP kept on losing wickets and failed to build partnerships and ended up with only 119/8 in 20 overs. Wayne Parnell, Rahul Sharma, Mitchell Marsh and Bhuvneshwar Kumar took 2 wickets each for the Pune Warriors. In reply, Sahara Pune Warriors scored 120/5 in 17.1 overs including a blistering 35 runs off 15 balls. Shalabh Srivastava took 2 wickets for KXIP. Rahul Sharma was awarded the Man of the Match for his yet another amazing spell of 2 wickets for 17 runs in 4 overs where he scalped both the openers Gilchrist and Valthaty.

Chris Gayle scored his second century in his 4 matches of IPL 4 as Bangalore Royal Challengers shattered Kings XI Punjab by 85 runs at Bangalore. Kings XI Punjab captain Gilchrist won the toss and put Bangalore Royal Challengers to bat. But Chris Gayle blazed off with 107 runs in only 49 balls to guide BRC to 205/6 in 20 overs. Ryan Harris took 3 wickets for Kings XI Punjab while Piyush Chawla took 2 wickets. In reply, KXIP wickets kept on crumbling throughout their 20 overs as they ended up with only 120/9 in 20 overs. Mumbai Indians defeated Kings XI Punjab by 23 runs as they moved to the top of the points table once again. KXIP captain Adam Gilchrist won the toss and put MI to bat. Sachin Tendulkar (51 runs off 45 balls) and Ambati Rayudu (51 runs off 37 balls) scored half centuries as MI reached 159/5 in 20 overs. Ryan Harris and Piyush Chawla took 2 wickets each for Kings XI Punjab. In reply, Shuan Marsh (61 runs off 47 balls) and Paul Valthaty (33 runs off 38 balls) gave some resistance but the other batsmen did not click as KXIP reached only 136/8 in 20 overs. Munaf Patel, Lasith Malinga and Harbhajan Singh took 2 wickets each for the Mumbai Indians. Keiron Pollard was awarded the Man of the Match for his allround performance including his omnipresence in the field, 1 wicket for 18 runs in 3 overs and 20 runs off 11 balls.
