Kings XI Punjab defeated Rajasthan Royals by 48 runs in their third consecutive win after the two initial losses. Rajasthan Royals skipper Shane Warne won the toss and put KXIP to bat. But Kings XI Punjab blazed away and also scored the fastest fifth in IPL history mainly due to blazing innings by Paul Valthaty (46 runs off 31 balls) and Adam Gilchrist (26 runs off 16 balls). After they got out Shaun Marsh (71 runs off 42 balls) continued though they lost momentum in the final 5 overs of the KXIP innings after he got out as they reached 195/7 in 20 overs. Shaun Tait took two wickets for the Rajasthan Royals while Shane Watson chipped in with 2 wickets. In reply, Rajasthan Royals kept on losing wickets at regular intervals and all their big names got out cheaply as they ended with only 147/7 in 20 overs.
