Shikhar Dhawan and Ishank Jaggi opened the batting for Deccan Chargers and scored 24 and 25 runs respectively. But they kept losing wickets at regular intervals though some last minute efforts by Daniel Christian and Ravi Teja with scores of 26 (19 balls) and 28 (20 balls) helped them to reach 137/8 in their 20 overs. Siddharth Trivedi and Amit Singh scalped 3 wikcets each for the Royals while Warne himself chipped in with a couple of wickets. In reply, Rajasthan Royals made a very stable start with Amit Paunikar (20 runs off 19 balls) and Rahul Dravid (28 runs for 35 balls) followed by some hitting from Johan Botha (67 runs off 47 balls) and Ross Taylor (21 runs from 14 balls) as they chased the target with 7 balls to spare. Rajasthan Royals beat Mumbai Indians by 2 runs in an absolute thriller 0

Match 45 of IPL T20 season 2 was very important for both Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians as a win would almost bring them near the semis while a defeat would virtually end their hope of securing a semi-final berth. Shane Warne won the toss and decided to bat. Rob Quiney (51 off 40 balls) and Ravindra Jadeja (42 off 32 balls) batted brilliantly but the rest of the batsmen could not capitalize after their departure and they ended at 145/7 in their 20 overs. Mumbai Indains did not get a good start in their first six overs as a result of a major shuffling of the batting order where domestic Indian players were sent instead of the seniors. The required run rate kept of increasing and Mumbai Indians kept on losing wickets steadily under the pressure of scoring big runs. Even some good hitting by Sachin Tendulkar (40 off 30 balls) and Abhishek Nayar (35 off 18 balls) could not save the Mumbai Indians as they lost out all wickets in 19.5 overs. It was a trilling match and the death overs were nerve-wrecking as Rajasthan Royals managed to pull out a win even when 5 runs were only required in the last over with 3 wickets left. Shane Warne was awarded the Man of the Match for his brilliant and crucial spell of 3 wickets for 24 runs.
